Wisdom of Solomon

Reflection from the Wisdom of Solomon

“Reflect upon three things, and you will not come within the power of sin; know from where you came, and to where you are going, and before Whom you will in future have to give account and reckoning.”

“The day is short, and the work is great, and the labourers are sluggish, and the reward is much, and the Master of the House is urgent. It may not be given you to complete the work, but you art not at liberty to desist from it.

“R. Eliezer said, ‘Repent one day before your death’. His disciples asked him, ‘Does anyone know on what day he will die’? He replied, ‘All the more reason that he repent to-day, lest to-morrow he die. Let his whole life, therefore, be spent in repentance’.”

“Render the soul back to God in the same state that He gave it to you: as He gave it to you in a state of purity, return it to Him in a state of purity.”

“The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died; but they are in peace. Their hope is full of immortality.”
