A Good Name is Better than Precious Oil
When Rabbi Yochanan finished reading the Book of Job he would say: The end of a man is death and the end of a beast is slaughter. Every creature born must die. Blessed is he who was reared in Torah and who labored in Torah, who pleased his Creator, who lived with a good name and who departed this world with a good name. Of such a person, Solomon said, "A good name is better than precious oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth" (Ecclesiastes 8:1).
