Kindling the Shiva Candle

O God, Source of Life,
We turn to Thee at this time of pain and grief.
Give us strength in this hour of sorrow,
As we light this Shiva candle in memory of ________________.

Help us remember the words of the Bible:
“The human soul is the light of the Lord.”

In Thy keeping, the soul of our beloved still glows
As brightly as the heavenly firmament.

May this faith help to dispel the darkness,
Which sorrow has now cast upon us.

By Thy light, may we who mourn see light;
And may the memory of our departed abide with us
As a lasting benediction.
