What was originally, in 2007, a spare time ‘hobby’ costing almost nothing and representing a few hours a week of time commitment evolved into a project demanding a lot of time and expense. The highest cost is the time cost – working on this site many hours a week. This is all very good, and we’re delighted at the steady growth in popularity of our site, but please don’t let us become victims of our own ‘success’!

I was on a retreat in the mountains some years ago. Before leaving, my Bishop told me to pay close attention to everything around me so I would not miss any of the wonders around me. I took my time and walked and thought of the richness of the mountain path. I spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation. About two days into my trek I found myself drawn to a small knot of people on the trail listening to a storyteller. I stopped and listened as this storyteller told stories about prayer and faith. When he told a story about students wanting to see the Messiah I was really caught off guard as it was the Rabbi and his stories gave me the inspiration to better understand my faith. When I told my Bishop about the storytelling Rabbi he just smiled. Help the Rabbi keep telling the stories, the world needs people like him
I read the stories and have to admit at times I think they are silly and filled with superstition. Personally I believe in what can be proved through science. But I have to admit that if there was a man of faith, than Rabbi would have to be that person. I once challenged him and asked how can you tell such stories knowing they are not true?
Rabbi answered the stories are true – but only true if you believe in them. He further shocked me when he sugessted I read the work of Miton and Bettleheim – Rabbi is wise and his stories are strong.
I may not agree with him but he is a treasure- a true medieval storyteller stuck in the 21st century.
Lend your support – if you are able – to keep the stories flowing.
I heard the Rabbi tell stories many years ago. I went with a friend of mine thinking What can a Jew telling stories have to do with me? I was amazed that when he told his stories it was as though he was telling to me alone and not the 75 or so other people there. He reminded me of the beauty I used to see in the stories of my old Baba. I for one know what it is to almost lose the stories of my past. I never had a chance then, but now I say thank you Rabbi and I hope you can keep on telling the stories. They truly touched me.
