Meditation on the Yahrzeit Memorial Candle
Eternal God, reverently I stand before this memorial light,
As I Mourn the death of my beloved _________________.
From the depths I call out in grief,
Grant me the strength in the midst of sorrow.
Help me to bear my burdens, even my anger and despair,
Knowing that Thou wilt not abandon those who truly see Thee.
The sharp, stinging pain which death has inflicted,
Has been softened at times by kind, caring words;
But the would is still raw; grief often overwhelms me;
Sustain me, O Lord, in moments of doubt.
Help me to forgive the hurts I may have suffered;
Enable me to forgive myself for the hurts I may have inflicted.
I thank Thee, O Lord, for the gift of memory,
Which enables me to hold my dear ______________ forever in my heart.
Reminded of life’s transience, may I use each day wisely,
Living with compassion, generosity, and integrity.
Thus will I honor the memory of the departed;
Who will continue to be a source of blessing.
Amen
